OSHA Training Center Offers Safety Training for Federal Agency Collateral Duty Personnel

federal-agency-collateral-dutyThe Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires federal agencies to provide training for collateral duty safety and health personnel and all members of certified occupational safety and health committees commensurate with the scope of their assigned responsibilities. Since collateral assignments and committee appointments entail safety and health duties and responsibilities over and above employees’ primary job responsibilities, it is critically important that they receive adequate training to prepare them for their additional safety and health responsibilities.

OSHA developed OSHA #6000 – Collateral Duty Course for Other Federal Agencies to address the specific needs and requirements of collateral duty safety and health personnel and certified occupational safety and health committee members. The course is designed to help participants:

  • Understand general industry terms and identify hazards that occur in general industry
  • Determine appropriate standards and regulations for federal agencies
  • Locate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies and procedures
  • Describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to effectively assist agency safety and health officers with inspection and abatement efforts

The OSHA Training Center is offering OSHA #6000 – Collateral Duty Course for Other Federal Agencies on March 16-19, 2015, at its Dublin, California location. Interested students are encouraged to enroll now as this course is filling up fast.

Interested federal agencies should also consider bringing OSHA #6000 on-site. Among the important advantages of on-site training are customization of the course to address the individual needs of each agency and the collaborative interaction of participants within the same agency and work teams during training.
