OTC Professional Certificate ProgramThe OSHA Training Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District offers a Professional Safety Certificate Training Program designed to broaden the safety expertise of employees and enhance workplace hazard prevention and safety awareness. Program participants can choose from three levels of certification to match their individual goals for professional development in the growing field of occupational safety and health.

The OSHA Training Center Professional Certificate Program provides a broad base of vital safety and health information with immediate practical applications for workplace safety. This program gives participants the opportunity to advance their safety knowledge and promote safety awareness in their workplaces.

The Three Levels of Certification

SA Safety AssociateThe Safety Associate Certificate (SA) — Level I offers a solid foundation in OSHA Standards and broadens participants’ knowledge and skills in understanding OSHA regulations and developing solutions to workplace safety challenges. Level I participants can tailor their program to reflect their areas of interest as well as focus on OSHA regulations affecting their industry through a selection of core required courses and electives. The Level I Certificate is appropriate for supervisors, warehouse foremen, logistics personnel, HR staff, food processing workers, landscape/agricultural workers and engineers.

SSH Specialist in Safety & HealthThe Specialist in Safety and Health Certificate (SSH) – Level II is designed to expand and improve the practical skills of those responsible for employee safety and health in their workplaces. The courses examine critical safety and health issues of both private industry and government, and provide training to help students manage a proactive safety and health program. Level II participants can customize their program to match their areas of expertise by selecting a combination of core and elective courses. The Level II Certificate is appropriate for safety professionals, industrial hygienists, supervisors, risk managers, trainers, workers compensation staff, HR managers and government agencies.

CSHO Certified Safety & Health OfficialThe Certified Safety and Health Official Certificate (CSHO) – Level III guides students through the growing maze of safety and health regulations – employee safety, liability, training requirements, loss control, program development and implementation – to help them develop their staff’s expertise in safety and health strategies. Level III participants can choose certification in either construction or general industry. The Level III Certificate is appropriate for safety directors and officers, union representatives, health and safety technicians, occupational health specialists, risk managers, compliance managers, plant or facility managers, production supervisors, HR supervisors and workers’ compensation specialists.
